EIT InnoEnergy
Offers clean transport innovation networks linking teams with investors and launch support.
EIT InnoEnergy is the European Institute of Innovation and Technology's Knowledge and Innovation Community for sustainable energy. Established in 2010 by the EIT, it is an EU-linked platform based in Eindhoven that operates mainly in Europe while also working in the United States and Japan. Its public profile centres on industrialising clean-tech innovation and building companies that can help a net-zero economy scale.
The main instrument is equity investment, not grants. The Highway program combines 2.5 years of acceleration with a minority equity stake, and the organisation also runs the Skills Institute, Masters+, Net Zero Industry Academies, TPaaS, and Green Talent Accelerator as training and workforce routes. It works with 1,400+ partners across industry, finance, policy, and academia, has supported more than 540 companies since 2010, and reports over €35 billion raised by portfolio companies.
EIT InnoEnergy is a strong fit for early clean-tech companies that have moved beyond concept and need capital, industrial partners, and execution support. It asks for proof of concept or a prototype and looks for execution-driven teams that can use access to customers, supply chains, and policy networks. The model is closer to a strategic investor and company builder than to a grant-maker, which is why the clean-tech route here is capital-plus-services rather than public subsidy.
