Malaysian Technology Development Corporation
Funds and nurtures Malaysian technology commercialization through venture-style co-investment, partnerships, and commercialization support.
Malaysian Technology Development Corporation is Malaysia's government-linked technology financier under MOSTI. Founded in 1992, it began as the country's first government venture capital firm and has grown into a partner for technology commercialization and ecosystem building.
MTDC backs Malaysian companies through commercial funds such as BGF and BSF, alongside developmental funds such as NTIS and HTDF. Its mix spans grants, grant-hybrid structures, convertible capital, and equity, with priority sectors including E&E and semiconductors, industry 4.0, healthcare and life sciences, food security, green economy, and aerospace and mobility.
The firm is a fit for founders moving from prototype to scale, especially where technology transfer, market entry, and industrial adoption matter. It is also a route for companies that need patient capital, technical validation, and access to Malaysia's commercialization network. Its track record includes 21 technology company IPOs and roughly RM7 billion in ecosystem revenue, which places it closer to a long-horizon commercialization partner than a narrow grant desk.
