National Technology & Innovation Sandbox Fund (NTIS)

The National Technology & Innovation Sandbox Fund (NTIS) sits under MTDC as Malaysia's regulatory sandbox for testing new products, services, business models, and delivery mechanisms with relaxed rules. It is aimed at Malaysian individuals or Malaysian-owned companies that have been accepted into the sandbox. The program blends grant support and, in its commercialisation track, a convertible-note component. Single Site offers a 100% grant up to RM250,000 for six months, Multiple Site offers up to 70% grant up to RM500,000 for six months, and Commercialisation reaches RM4 million over 18 months; the Corporate track uses a 1:1 partnership model. NTIS is built for teams that need a controlled test environment before scaling. It covers technology licensing, regulatory compliance, production, IP, operations, and marketing in later schemes, so applicants tend to be strongest when the project is clearly testable, commercially relevant, and ready to work through regulatory constraints. The corporate track is the closest thing to a partnership route, because it pairs the applicant with a corporate partner on a project basis.
