New Zealand Growth Capital Partners
Invests in New Zealand companies through state-owned venture backing aimed at scaling promising high-growth businesses.
New Zealand Growth Capital Partners is a 100% Crown-owned venture investor that began in 2001 as NZVIF and was rebranded in 2020. It sits under the MBIE remit and operates as an equity investor, not a grant maker.
Its two vehicles are Aspire NZ Seed Fund and Elevate NZ Venture Fund. Aspire backs early-stage Kiwi tech companies at proof of concept, seed, and early expansion, while Elevate is a fund-of-funds platform backing venture managers at Series A and B. The record puts Aspire at up to NZD 500,000 and Elevate at a larger fund-of-funds scale, with the wider vehicle now above NZD 400 million after additional Crown capital.
NZGCP is designed to crowd in private capital, not replace it. Aspire looks for market, product, and team strength alongside co-investors, and Elevate backs managers with the track record and matching capital to build a stronger New Zealand venture market. It also serves founders building globally scalable companies from New Zealand.
