South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development
Backs South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development with workforce and innovation proof-of-concept support.
The South Dakota Governor's Office of Economic Development is the state's executive-branch economic development office. It works under the Governor and coordinates financing, research support, networking, and agency navigation for businesses and communities across South Dakota.
Its grant routes in this file include the Workforce Development Grant, the Proof of Concept Program, the Local Infrastructure Improvement Program, Community Development Block Grants, and CDBG Disaster Recovery funding. The Proof of Concept line reaches up to $25,000, while the office also uses federal HUD pass-through money alongside state-funded support. It also coordinates across Labor, Transportation, and Agriculture and Natural Resources, which helps applicants that need more than one agency at the table.
That mix makes the office useful for companies and local governments that need early commercialization help, workforce support, or place-based infrastructure funding. Tax-refund incentives also sit in the same office, but they are separate from the grant routes and should be treated as financing tools rather than cash awards.
