AI for Industry Challenge
Pays $180,000 in cash prizes to developer and robotics teams that train an AI model to solve a real electronics-assembly cable-handling problem on Intrinsic's platform.
Anyone 18 or older who isn't an Intrinsic or Open Robotics employee can enter alone or in a team of up to ten, as long as they aren't based in a country under US sanctions. The competition runs in three phases from March through September 2026: a simulated qualification round, a build phase inside Intrinsic Flowstate for the top 30 teams, and a real-robot deployment at Intrinsic's California HQ fo…
The challenge targets one specific bottleneck in electronics manufacturing: dexterous cable and connector handling for server-tray assembly, a task still done by hand because flexible cables are so hard to model and grip precisely. Entrants train and test a model in open-source simulators such as Isaac Sim, MuJoCo or Gazebo using ROS, then move on to build a complete solution inside Intrinsic's own developer environment.
