BC Capital Project Grants
Funds nonprofit capital projects in British Columbia that strengthen local service delivery and community infrastructure.
Eligibility · Canada · CA-BC
The BC Capital Project Grants program provides up to $250,000 per project for capital improvements at non-profit facilities in British Columbia, with the Province allocating $5 million annually to the program. The grant covers between 20% and 50% of total estimated project cost, meaning applicants must have matching funds available from their own resources or other sources. Projects must have a total cost between $20,000 and $1,250,000 to be eligible. The 2026 intake window runs from July 17 to August 31, 2026, with applicants notified of results by December 31, 2026 — an approximately 17-week decision timeline.
A hard prerequisite distinguishes this program from most capital grants: applicants must already hold an approved BC Community Gaming Grant. Organizations that do not currently hold an active Community Gaming Grant are ineligible regardless of the merits of their capital project. Projects must also demonstrate public accessibility and widespread community benefit. Only one application per year and one project per application are permitted. Eligible organizations are non-profits; for-profit businesses, universities, and research organizations are excluded. Applications are submitted online via BCeID, consistent with other BC gaming grant programs.
To compete effectively, organizations should document the public accessibility of their facility, provide evidence of matching funds already in hand or firmly committed, and demonstrate that the capital improvement will directly enhance program delivery to the community. The requirement for an existing Community Gaming Grant means that organizations new to the gaming grants system need to apply for and receive a Community Gaming Grant in a prior year before capital project funding becomes accessible. Applications are reviewed by the Ministry of Finance gaming grants office, reachable at CommunityGamingGrants@gov.bc.ca or 250-356-1081.
Capital infrastructure grants up to $250K for BC non-profits that hold an approved Community Gaming Grant and are undertaking publicly accessible facility improvements.
