The Mitacs Globalink Research Award (GRA) is an international mobility grant that funds senior undergraduate students, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows to conduct a short-term research collaboration abroad or in Canada. Unlike Mitacs Accelerate, the GRA requires no industry partner co-funding; it is a direct researcher award administered entirely by Mitacs. The program operates on an ongoing rolling intake with no fixed annual deadline; applicants must submit at least 16 weeks ahead of their planned project start date, and outcome letters are typically issued 10 to 12 weeks after submission.

Award amounts are CAD $6,000 per 12-to-24-week internship unit. Researchers may undertake one 24-to-48-week project or two 12-to-24-week projects for a total award of CAD $12,000. Eligible destinations include most countries worldwide; inbound researchers to Canada are accepted from all nations except Russia and North Korea, and travel to countries classified as "Avoid all travel" by the Government of Canada is not permitted. Researchers may not conduct their Globalink project in a country where they hold citizenship, nor at an institution where they previously earned a degree.

Eligibility requires full-time enrollment as a senior undergraduate student, graduate student, or postdoctoral fellow. Postdoctoral applicants must have completed their PhD within five years of the project start date. The Globalink Research Award is distinct from the Mitacs Globalink Research Internship, which is a separate structured inbound program for international students hosted in Canada. Applicants apply through Mitacs directly and should contact a local Mitacs Advisor for guidance on the appropriate portal and current intake windows.

Funds international research mobility for senior students and postdoctoral fellows through outbound and inbound academic research exchanges of 12–48 weeks, with awards of $6,000–$12,000 per project on rolling intake.
