Mitacs Globalink Research Award
Funds international research mobility for senior students and postdocs in Canadian partner laboratories.
Mitacs Globalink Research Award funds international research mobility for full-time senior undergraduates, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows. It supports both outbound and inbound placements and sits within Mitacs's broader research-mobility portfolio. The programme is built for academic exchange and host-to-host collaboration, not for company-led development work. Awards are $6,000 for a 12- to 24-week project, or $12,000 for a longer 24- to 48-week placement or two shorter projects back to back. Intake is rolling, but applicants need to apply at least 16 weeks before the planned start date, and outcome letters arrive roughly 10 to 12 weeks after submission. Recipients cannot research in a country where they hold citizenship or at an institution where they earned previous degrees, and postdocs must have finished the PhD within five years of the project start. The programme is best when the host lab, travel window, and research question are already settled. It does not require industry co-funding, and inbound destinations are open almost everywhere except Russia and North Korea, subject to Government of Canada travel advisories. Applicants who can line up a clean academic host and respect the geography rules have the clearest path through the programme.
