FutuMed G8 University Alliance — Discoverability Seed
Funds university alliance projects across Medellín institutions using collaborative innovation and shared technology development.
FutuMed G8 is a co-financed research, development, and innovation funding track operated by Ruta N in partnership with eight universities in the Medellín metropolitan area (Valle de Aburrá). It forms part of the broader FutuMed 2025–2027 innovation strategy, which allocates more than 14,000 million COP across multiple tracks to position Medellín as a leading technology city in Latin America. The G8 track channels funding through the city's principal academic institutions to support R&D and innovation projects aligned with urban and social innovation priorities.
Specific call dates, per-project award amounts, and detailed eligibility criteria for the G8 track had not been published as of the data collection date. The track is expected to require a co-applicant from one of the eight universities in the alliance, and its geographic scope follows the FutuMed convention of targeting organisations domiciled in Valle de Aburrá. The programme sits within Ruta N's mandate to drive economic transformation and scientific capability in the Medellín region.
Organisations interested in the G8 track should monitor Ruta N's official portal at rutanmedellin.org for call announcements. Given the track's academic partnership structure, early engagement with one of the eight partner universities is advisable in advance of any call opening.
R&D&I co-financing channeled through Medellín's eight-university alliance for innovation projects aligned with the city's urban and technology development priorities.
