The prize funds U.S. community solar developers and co-developers, including newer entrants and organizations expanding an existing community solar business, working toward a pipeline of multiple projects rather than a single deployment. Funded projects must provide at least two of five meaningful benefits to subscribers and their communities: low- to moderate-income household access, greater household savings, resilience and grid benefits, community ownership, or workforce development. The prize looks for teams able to build a repeatable pipeline and eventually connect credit-ready projects with investors and philanthropic funders.
