BayTP+ (Bavarian Technology Promotion Program plus) Development Line provides non-repayable grants to technology-oriented companies based in Bavaria for the experimental development of technologically new or significantly improved products, production processes, and knowledge-based services. The program is funded by the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy (StMWi) and administered by Projektträger Bayern (PTB) at Bayern Innovativ. Its objective is to accelerate introduction and dissemination of innovative technologies across the Bavarian economy.
The Development Line covers two phases: Phase I funds the progression from idea to first functional pre-prototype, and Phase II covers the advance from pre-prototype to first prototype. Technical feasibility studies are also eligible in justified cases. The funding rate is 25–50% of eligible project costs depending on the degree of technical and economic risk, strategic importance, and company size. Companies with up to 400 employees are eligible under standard terms; companies above this threshold may apply only for projects of exceptional strategic importance to Bavaria as a technology location. Eligible cost categories include R&D personnel, instruments and equipment, contract research, patent costs, and consumables. A 20% retention of total grant is withheld and released only upon full project completion.
Applications can be submitted at any time during the guidelines' validity period — the program operates on a continuous rolling basis with no fixed deadlines. Projects must not have started before the approval letter is received and must not receive parallel state, federal, or EU funding. The applicant must finance at least 50–75% of eligible costs from own or external resources. Grant payments are disbursed in installments against incurred costs with regular interim technical and financial reporting to PTB. BayTP+ is suited to established Bavarian technology companies requiring substantial co-funding to bring an innovative product or process from concept to prototype stage.
