Pays a contractor to design and test next-generation main battle tank technology to replace Europe's ageing fleets.
This EDF Development Action follows on from earlier main battle tank work under the Fund, aiming to keep pace with newer platforms as Member State and EDF-associated fleets age. The Commission wants work that follows on from earlier EDF tank programmes and pushes main battle tank capability forward across protection, mobility and firepower. It's looking for higher multi-spectrum protection, all-terrain mobility, longer-range threat detection, better command-and-control, reduced-crew or eventually unmanned operation, and more affordable manufacturing.
