Principal investigators must show 8-15 years of research experience since their PhD, calculated as of the call's own reference date, demonstrate emerging leadership through senior-author publications and past success as lead applicant on competitive funding, lead their own research group with protected research time, and have their salary already covered by other sources for the length of the proj

The call backs preclinical research that improves the clinical diagnosis, prevention or treatment of cardiovascular disease, with multidisciplinary approaches particularly encouraged. Every project needs a minimum of three independent, mid-career principal investigators leading it jointly, drawn from the five partner countries: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain and the United Kingdom.
