Some industrial breakthroughs do not fit a narrowly predefined challenge. This topic gives small collaborative consortia room to explore new industrial technologies and feed promising knowledge into the next stage of the research and innovation pipeline.

Support open-ended breakthrough innovations in industrial technologies, up to TRL 4, that advance one or more R&I objectives in the strategic research agendas of Made in Europe, Process4Planet, Clean Steel, Innovative Advanced Materials for the EU or Textiles for the Future. Proposals should describe a credible route from results to the destination's expected impact and show why the work is a genuine breakthrough within the selected partnership agenda.
