The Environmental Technology Grant funds development and demonstration of innovative products, processes, or services that solve a defined environmental problem. The Norwegian State assumes part of the risk associated with developing, building, and testing environmental technology — particularly when full-scale testing is expensive and ROI is uncertain.

Projects must: - Be in the pilot or demonstration phase (TRL 5-7) - Develop or significantly improve a new product, process, or service with R&D at the core - Provide a new or improved solution to a defined environmental challenge - Strengthen the company's competitiveness and contribute to long-term value creation in Norway - Comply with the EU taxonomy - Deliver measurable environmental effects and demonstrate innovation at an international level

Grant size depends on project scale, scope, and risk profile. Awards are disbursed in three phases (start-up, mid-term, and final settlement) based on milestone achievement and audited project costs. The grant covers only part of project costs; additional funding must come from other sources (own funds, private investment, or other public schemes).

Applications are accepted on a continuous basis through Innovation Norway's My Page portal. Grant amounts must comply with EU State aid regulations — Innovation Norway will not exceed what is necessary to realize the project.

While collaboration is not required, letters of intent from one or more pilot customers strengthen the application by demonstrating market demand and commercialization pathway.

Norwegian companies developing environmental technology that delivers measurable environmental effects and demonstrates innovation at an international level. Pilot and demonstration projects at TRL 5-7. EU taxonomy compliance required.
