Horizon Wind: Breakthrough to Demonstration
Funds one €93M wind-energy project — split across breakthrough R&D, technology validation, and at least three real-world demonstrations.
Europe's wind sector has research and innovation priorities set by the SET Plan, but the work to get there is spread thin — national programmes, test centres and one-off projects that rarely talk to each other. This topic funds one large project, a single €93M grant, to pull that effort together under the priorities set by the SET Plan's wind Implementation Working Group, ETIP Wind and the EERA wi…
Advancing wind energy technology across nine priority areas — industrialisation and mass production, AI- and robotics-driven operations and maintenance, grid and storage integration, materials circularity, floating offshore wind, test infrastructure, climate and geophysical modelling, environmental and social coexistence, and emerging turbine concepts — through three challenges: breakthrough R&D and technology validation, largely delivered by passing funding to third parties (up to EUR 1M per party), plus at least three demonstration activities at TRL 7-8, each run directly by the core consortium for a minimum of six months.
