Funds four €7M pilots that retrofit apartment blocks to near-zero-energy standard with prefabricated systems and minimal disruption to residents.
Deep renovation of Europe's older apartment blocks is often too disruptive to actually happen — months of on-site work, tenants living through the mess, and construction noise, dust and waste piling up next door. This topic funds a fix built around prefabrication: doing more of the work off-site, so less has to happen while people are still living in the building.

Designing and demonstrating (TRL 6-8 by project end, starting at any TRL) low-disturbance prefabricated renovation for multi-storey buildings (5+ storeys), reaching at least near-zero-energy (NZEB) performance. Covers the full workflow — design, off-site manufacturing, on-site installation, and plans for maintenance, operation and end of life — using prefab systems that adapt to varied existing walls, balconies and piping, and that cut on-site construction time and disruption to occupants. Proven out on three demonstration buildings, each in a different Member State or Associated Country and split across residential and non-residential categories.
