Horizon Mobility: CCAM Flagship Demonstrations
Funds one €100M flagship project running live self-driving and connected-vehicle pilots for people, transit and freight across Europe, for at least a year.
CCAM stands for Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility — self-driving and connected vehicles working together with roads, cities and each other. The EU has been building toward this since 2021 through a whole programme of smaller CCAM projects. This call funds the payoff: one flagship project that pulls the best results from that programme together and proves them at real scale, in real tra…
Physically demonstrating CCAM (connected, cooperative and automated mobility) solutions at large scale, as one flagship project spanning three mandatory domains — individual mobility in mixed traffic, shared mobility and public transport, and freight and logistics — through field operational tests, technology pilots and living labs run for at least 12 months at multiple sites and corridors across Europe. The project advances from SAE Level 2 toward Level 3/4 automated driving, reaches TRL 7-8 by the end, validates the connectivity, positioning, cybersecurity and perception technology the vehicles depend on, assesses how ready the systems are for real deployment, drafts regulatory recommendations, and works out a business model for each use case so the pilots can keep running after EU funding ends.
