Horizon African Renewable Energy Valleys
Funds two €4.5M Innovation Actions that demonstrate affordable, locally anchored renewable energy systems in Africa.
Many African communities face unreliable or expensive energy supplies, limited grid capacity and dependence on imported fuels. This topic funds Innovation Actions that demonstrate Renewable Energy Valleys: decentralised systems that produce and consume renewable energy locally for electricity, heat or fuel, improving energy security, access, affordability and local economic opportunity.
Projects …
Demonstrating decentralised Renewable Energy Valleys in urban or rural African contexts for local electricity, heat and fuel needs, with grid stability, energy access, local manufacturing value chains, skills, business models and finance. Projects must include African beneficiaries, reach TRL 8, apply a Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystem Nexus and circular-economy approach, assess cradle-to-grave impacts and show a path to commercial deployment.
