Design, test and validate vendor-agnostic hardware, software and processes for next-generation electricity transmission system operator control rooms. Projects should combine real-time observability, forecasting, analytics, visualisation, automation and decision support to manage congestion, integrate more renewable generation, reduce curtailment and prepare for or recover from incidents. They may use wide-area monitoring systems, digital twins and artificial intelligence, with security-by-design, cyber protection and open-source components where possible. The work must improve interoperability between different TSOs and with connected distribution system operators, produce an operations manual and best practices, and demonstrate the results in at least two pilots in different eligible countries.
