Businesses and investors still struggle to measure how much they depend on nature, what biodiversity loss could cost them, and which investments genuinely help ecosystems. This topic funds research that turns biodiversity into a practical part of economic decisions, corporate strategy, reporting and finance.

Building the evidence, metrics, incentives and finance mechanisms needed for a nature-positive economy. Projects should improve biodiversity assessment and reporting for businesses, quantify economic dependencies and risks, strengthen incentives and fiscal reforms, pilot mechanisms such as nature credits and ecosystem-service markets in real-world business settings, and demonstrate routes from research into policy and practice. The work must use a multi-actor approach and connect to biodiversity data, Biodiversa+, the EC Knowledge Centre for Biodiversity, and relevant voluntary finance and disclosure initiatives.
