Horizon Cities Mission: Circular Construction

Designing, building and physically demonstrating tools, diagnostic methods and business models that bring circular-economy practices into the construction sector, at building, district and city scale. Covers urban mining and reuse of construction products and materials, secondary biobased materials, adaptive building design, renovation and repurposing instead of demolition, diagnosis and grading of used construction products and demolition waste, inventories and marketplaces for reclaimed materials including material-bank models, and whole life-cycle GHG emissions inventories for buildings. Demonstrated in at least three cities in three different Member States or Associated Countries, with at least one of the three among the 112 cities selected for the EU Mission on Climate-Neutral and Smart Cities.
