Anticipating the Long-Term Future of Neighbourhoods in Line with the New European Bauhaus
Funds €3.5M projects that help neighbourhoods imagine and prepare for resilient futures over 20 years and beyond.
Neighbourhoods are often planned around a five- to ten-year horizon, even though demographic, cultural, socioeconomic and climate changes can reshape their needs for decades. This New European Bauhaus action helps local stakeholders anticipate those changes together and create future visions that are sustainable, inclusive and beautiful.
Projects should develop a participatory foresight approach …
Develop and validate a participatory foresight approach for the long-term planning, redesign and development of existing neighbourhoods. Analyse socioeconomic, cultural, demographic and climate conditions and trends; build future scenarios and visions with measurable targets and measures; use co-creation that includes marginalised, underrepresented and vulnerable groups; and test the approach in at least three neighbourhoods in different Member States or Associated Countries. Integrate SSH expertise, intergenerational fairness, transdisciplinary participation and recommendations for authorities, decision makers and the public. Allocate at least 0.8% of the budget to the New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact.
