Innovations in Biotherapies & Bioproduction — September Round (relève septembre)
Funds biotherapy and bioproduction innovation in healthcare and synthetic biology.
The Innovations en biothérapies et bioproduction call is a France 2030 program operating under the national acceleration strategy for biotherapies and innovative therapy bioproduction, managed by Bpifrance. The call funds R&D projects across three thematic tracks: Thematic 1 covers development of biotherapies in human or animal health (where a human health impact is envisaged); Thematic 2 covers development of R&D tools and stratification methods for biotherapy development; and Thematic 3 covers development of new bioproduction processes, tools, equipment, and optimization systems for existing bioproduction technologies. The call was open from 1 January 2026 through 8 September 2026, with two relay deadlines: 12 March 2026 (passed) and 8 September 2026 (open and final, at noon Paris time).
Aid is provided as a blend of grant and recoverable advance. The exact split between grant and recoverable advance is not stated on the program page; it is governed by the cahier des charges, which must be downloaded before preparing a submission. Eligible applicants include for-profit companies, universities, and research organizations registered in France and carrying out operations in France. Non-profit organizations and individuals are not eligible. Contact for queries: aap-france2030@bpifrance.fr.
Applicants must identify which of the three thematic tracks their project fits before applying, as the submission and evaluation criteria may differ by thematic. Organizations working on gene therapies, cell therapies, mRNA-based therapies, or advanced bioproduction platforms — including upstream bioprocess development and downstream purification — are the intended applicants. The September 2026 relay is the final opportunity to apply under this call edition. Teams should download the cahier des charges immediately to determine minimum project size, aid intensity by applicant category, and scoring criteria, none of which are available on the public program page.
Funds R&D in biotherapy development for human or animal health, R&D tools and stratification for biotherapies, and novel bioproduction processes and equipment, via blended grant and recoverable advance.
