Services Supporting Critical Infrastructure

Fully funds space-enabled services that make critical infrastructure safer and greener.

ESA structures this as a zero-equity Feasibility Study: the agency takes no stake in the company or the resulting service, and judges each proposal on three factors -- the team behind it, the market potential of the proposed service, and how well it applies a technology originally built for space, such as Earth observation, satellite navigation or satellite communications. SatCen, UNICRI and OSCE

ESA wants commercial services empowered by space technology that reduce the vulnerability of critical infrastructure -- drinking water supply, emergency services, food and agriculture, financial services, waste and wastewater, government facilities, dams, harbours, transportation and IT. Proposals must use a technology originally developed for space, such as Earth observation, satellite navigation, satellite communications, or space weather monitoring.
