Large-Scale Photonic Quantum Computing Platform Technologies
Pays one project, led by a photonic-quantum-computing startup, EUR 10 million to build toward a 1,000-qubit photonic quantum computer by 2030 with a named end-user demonstration.
Large-Scale Photonic Quantum Computing Platform Technologies is a European Commission Research and Innovation Action that pays one project, led by a photonic-quantum-computing startup, the full ten million euros to close two technical gaps in photonic quantum computing at once: the lack of a way to entangle photons deterministically and without loss at scale, and the absence of a shared control st…
The Commission wants a project that tackles two major technical roadblocks in photonic quantum computing: deterministic, loss-tolerant photon entanglement, and a standardised control stack combining hardware, firmware and software. It wants a roadmap to a 100+ qubit photonic processor by 2028 and a 1,000-qubit full-stack system by 2030, validated by a real end-user's operational use case.
