The Commission wants research into how impurities in captured CO2 streams change their chemical and physical behaviour during pipeline or ship transport and once injected into geological storage, since impure CO2 can corrode infrastructure or threaten storage-site integrity. Proposals must choose either transport or storage and deliver design and safety recommendations, backed by modelling or experimental data, for coping with impure CO2 streams.
