The Commission wants AI and machine-learning-based energy management systems for ships that optimise fuel use and cut emissions in real time, integrating new fuel types, propulsion systems, wind-assisted propulsion and energy-storage technologies into one adaptive control system. Proposals should demonstrate the approach across at least three case studies β€” inland waterways, coastal shipping and deep-sea shipping β€” using simulation methods across a range of vessel types.
