The Commission wants a digital design tool that can plan ship decarbonisation retrofits holistically — accounting for how alternative fuels, propulsion systems and renewable-energy additions interact with each other and with a ship's stability, weight and hull strength, rather than treating each retrofit technology in isolation. Proposals should validate the tool at model scale and then apply it to six virtual demonstrations covering the six ship types set out in the ZEWT Partnership's research agenda.
