The Commission wants projects that work out the operational and societal conditions for remotely monitoring, assisting and taking over control of highly automated (SAE Level 4) vehicles from off-board, covering at least two use cases in passenger transport, goods transport, or a mix of both. Proposals must address safety validation, business models, infrastructure needs and remote-operator working conditions, and, as a Societal Readiness pilot, bring in social-science expertise alongside the engineering.
