Fostering equity and justice in climate policies – Societal Readiness Pilot
Funds research into fair, equitable climate policy design, with mandatory research partners from at least three lower-income countries.
Up to three grants averaging EUR 4-5 million are expected, funded as a lump sum. This is one of Cluster 5's 'Societal Readiness' pilot topics, so it needs meaningful involvement of social-science and humanities experts alongside the technical team, and the consortium must include at least three legal entities from three different low- or middle-income countries.
The Commission wants research that builds a more inclusive, equity-focused understanding of climate policy — covering both EU and global mitigation and adaptation choices — and feeds that into IPCC assessments and policy narratives. It specifically wants projects run jointly between European and low- or middle-income-country research teams.
