The Commission wants research that identifies why recently developed high-efficiency and novel-design crystalline silicon PV modules degrade or fail, and that builds cheap, accurate defect-detection tools, including AI-based ones. It wants proposals to test mitigation approaches through modelling and outdoor field experiments across different European climates, feeding into the EUPI-PV solar energy partnership.
