Bioprospecting and optimized production of the terrestrial natural products: new opportunities for bio-based sectors
Funds companies discovering and scaling up bioactive natural compounds from land-based organisms for pharma, cosmetics, food and other markets.

The European Commission wants proposals covering the full biodiscovery pipeline for terrestrial natural compounds — from in-silico prospecting and genomic characterisation through to optimised production via biotechnology, biomanufacturing or synthetic biology. It wants AI and digital tools used to speed up the pipeline, and production methods that reduce pressure on wild resources while opening new markets in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food additives and agrochemicals.
