The European Commission wants renovation processes, methods or techniques based on design for adaptability and disassembly — an approach that lets buildings, common spaces and infrastructure be modularly adapted, dismantled and repurposed rather than demolished. Proposals should develop at least two such processes and quantify their environmental, economic, social, cultural, financial and regulatory impacts against conventional renovation, using indicators from the EU's 'Level(s)' framework for sustainable buildings.
