RISPRO Kompetisi (Riset Inovatif Produktif Kompetisi) is the open competitive research grant stream operated by LPDP (Lembaga Pengelola Dana Pendidikan), Indonesia's Endowment Fund for Education, which manages a large dedicated fund to finance education and research for Indonesia's long-term human capital development. RISPRO Kompetisi operates two sub-tracks: RISPRO Komersial, which funds commercialization-oriented applied research, and RISPRO Kebijakan/Tata Kelola, which supports policy and governance research. Indonesian universities and research organizations serve as principal investigators; the program is designed to produce research outcomes with practical application to Indonesia's economic and governance priorities.
RISPRO Kompetisi sits alongside two other RISPRO streams — RISPRO Invitasi, which disburses by invitation around LPDP-determined strategic themes, and RISPRO Kolaborasi Internasional, which supports basic research with international collaboration partners through joint-call, matching-fund, or co-funding mechanisms. The Kompetisi stream is the primary route through which Indonesian research institutions can apply competitively for LPDP research funding outside of specifically themed or by-invitation calls. Applications are submitted through LPDP's online portal, and grant disbursements are made in Indonesian Rupiah.
LPDP manages one of the largest education endowment funds in Asia, with its corpus accumulated from natural resource revenues and government contributions. Specific cycle dates, award ceilings, thematic priorities for each cycle, and detailed eligibility criteria for individual RISPRO Kompetisi calls are published in program guidelines released ahead of each competition.
