The Wadhwani Foundation's Entrepreneurship Initiative is a non-cash support program operated by a U.S.-based philanthropic foundation established by technology entrepreneur Romesh Wadhwani. The initiative delivers training, mentorship, incubator partnerships, and facilitated investor connections to aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, and small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs) across 10 or more emerging-economy countries, with India as the primary geography. The Foundation does not distribute cash grants to entrepreneurs or institutions; its value-add is programmatic capacity-building.

The initiative includes several distinct programs. Ignite delivers entrepreneurship education to college students at partner institutions including PEC, JNTU Kakinada, JNTU Anantapur, Parul University, and IIM Nagpur InFED, drawing on the legacy National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) branding. Liftoff is an AI-powered business growth advisor available at a standalone subdomain, helping founders assess business readiness, identify growth priorities, and connect with mentors. SME Academy provides tailored strategy and growth-mindset training to senior management teams at established SMEs. Accelerate targets growth-stage ventures with resources to identify and act on scale opportunities. The Foundation reports having trained over 200,000 learners, engaged more than 1,000 institutes, and supported more than 7,000 startups and SMBs, with over 250 incubator partnerships active.

Organizations and individuals engaging with the Wadhwani Entrepreneurship Initiative should understand they are applying for programmatic access rather than direct funding. The primary benefit is structured access to a network of mentors, incubators, and investors who can facilitate fundraising โ€” not a grant or loan. Geographic coverage spans India, Indonesia, Philippines, Bangladesh, Brazil, Mexico, Chile, Peru, Egypt, and Nigeria. For-profit businesses, nonprofits, universities, and individual entrepreneurs may all participate depending on the specific sub-program.

Delivers non-cash training, mentorship, and incubator network access to aspiring entrepreneurs, startups, and SMEs across 10+ emerging-economy countries through programs including Ignite, Liftoff, SME Academy, and Accelerate.
