FHF — Fiskeri- og havbruksnæringens forskningsfinansiering is a Norwegian quasi-governmental R&D funder collecting a mandatory 0.3% levy on seafood exports under the oversight of the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries. This call allocates 8 million NOK to research developing sustainable antioxidants for the ensilage of by-products from the Norwegian seafood industry (Norwegian: Utvikling av bærekraftige antioksidanter for ensilering av restråstoff fra sjømatnæringen). The deadline is 10 June 2026. Ensilage — the process of preserving wet organic material through acidification — is a key method for valorising fish by-products such as offcuts, heads, and viscera into fish silage used in animal feed; current antioxidant options raise sustainability and regulatory concerns that this call aims to address. Eligible applicants include for-profit companies, non-profit organisations, universities, and research institutions registered and operating in Norway; individuals are not eligible, and international teams must participate through a Norwegian lead with ID-porten access. The call sits within FHF's processing sector program, which addresses product quality, by-product valorisation, and circular-economy outcomes for the Norwegian seafood supply chain. FHF's 2026 processing-related budget area includes product quality and processing at approximately 36.4 million NOK. Proposals are expected to deliver results that can be directly transferred to industry use in by-product silage lines.

Funds development of sustainable antioxidant solutions for acidification and preservation of Norwegian seafood industry by-products.
