A+ Early-Stage Startup Grant Program is the Ministry of Economic Affairs Department of Industrial Technology A+ Enterprise Innovation Project Office route for young Taiwanese science and technology startups. The program is aimed at companies using forward-looking, hard-to-replace key technologies after completing a functional prototype and before full market deployment.

The supported work is commercialization-oriented R&D rather than general business development. Eligible project scope includes MVP development and validation, target-customer introduction, demonstration-site validation, productization preparation, and market landing. The announcement excludes mature-technology integration, agency/resale models, custom implementation, and business-model packaging from the funded scope.

Applicants must apply as a single company registered in Taiwan for less than three years at the submission date. They must already have a functional prototype, provide evidence of market demand or potential customer interaction, show financial capacity, have positive net worth, and not be a Mainland China-invested Taiwan business.

Projects are expected to run up to two years, with total project costs up to TWD 20 million as a principle and a government subsidy ratio capped at 50% of total project cost. The rest must be self-funded by the applicant. The official announcement was published on 2026-06-16, says applications begin one month after the announcement, and sets the receiving period through ROC year 116 December 31, interpreted as 2027-12-31.

The main applicant risk is readiness. This is not for an idea-stage startup: the company needs a functional prototype, credible market-demand or potential-customer evidence, and a plan centered on self-developed key technology rather than adapting mature technology or repackaging a business model.

Key-technology startups developing an MVP from a completed functional prototype, including customer validation, demonstration-site validation, productization, and market landing.
