A+ Enterprise Innovation R&D Refinement Program
Supports Taiwan enterprises through the A Plus Refinement Program with technical guidance for high-potential industrial innovation.
The A+ Enterprise Innovation R&D Refinement Program (企業創新研發淬鍊計畫) is the largest industry-led R&D grant programme operated by Taiwan's Department of Industrial Technology (DoIT) under the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Running since 2014 and expanded to eleven sub-tracks, it supports forward-looking industrial R&D across priority sectors including semiconductors, AI, drones, unmanned vehicles, next-generation communications (5G/6G), biotechnology, advanced materials, and circular economy. Recent approved projects include China Steel (high-strength automotive steel), Taiwan Suiko (low-carbon aluminium alloy), and Solomon (humanoid robot smart-perception technology).
Sub-tracks include Frontier Technology R&D, IC Design Peak (semiconductors), Drone Frontier Tech, Unmanned Vehicle Technology Demonstration, Next-Gen Communications, Fast-Track Clinical Trial, A+STEP (a venture-equity variant), International R&D Cooperation (bilateral tracks with France and Israel, among others), and Drone Key-Chip and Module Self-Development. The subsidy typically covers 40–50% of approved project costs, with applicants funding the remainder. For-profit enterprises are the primary applicants, though universities and research organisations may participate in certain sub-tracks. All applicants must be Taiwan-registered entities.
Delivery is through DoIT's Tech-Project Joint Office (科專聯合辦公室), with execution contracted to partner institutes including ITRI, the Institute for Information Industry (III), and MIRDC. The application portal and all programme materials are in Traditional Chinese only, making a local partner or professional translation essential for foreign-affiliated companies. Note that MOEA issued a fraud advisory in April 2026 about forged A+ approval letters; applicants should verify all outreach through official DoIT channels.
Taiwan MOEA's flagship industry R&D subsidy covering frontier technologies, semiconductors, drones, next-generation communications, unmanned vehicles, and international joint-venture R&D projects.
