Taiwan's Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) administers the A+ Industrial Innovation R&D Program on behalf of the Ministry of Economic Affairs Department of Industrial Technology (DOIT). Launched in 2014, the program co-funds forward-looking technology development and cross-sector industrial ecosystem R&D by Taiwanese enterprises, with a particular emphasis on projects that can advance Taiwan's industrial competitiveness through international collaboration. ITRI serves as the administrative and technical partner; companies apply and track projects through the A+ portal at aiip.tdp.org.tw.

A+ encompasses several international bilateral co-funding tracks alongside domestic R&D calls. Active bilateral collaboration schemes include the Global R&D Innovation Partnership Program and the International Innovation R&D Collaboration Subsidy Program, with bilateral tracks covering EU research and innovation programs, Germany (in partnership with the ZIM scheme administered by Germany's Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs), Spain (in partnership with CDTI), Israel (in partnership with the Israel Innovation Authority), and the Czech Republic (in partnership with TACR's DELTA program). Each bilateral call is issued on a cycle aligned with the respective partner country's own schedule; call-specific parameters, deadlines, and award ceilings are published on the A+ portal and on partner-country agency websites.

Eligibility across A+ calls is generally limited to enterprises registered and operating in Taiwan. The program is structured to encourage projects that integrate multiple industry sectors and that have a path toward commercialisation. ITRI has been named a Clarivate Top 100 Global Innovator ten consecutive times and brings its applied research network to bear in supporting funded companies. Interested applicants should monitor the A+ portal directly for the announcement of specific call windows, as call schedules, eligible themes, and award amounts vary by cycle and bilateral partner.
