The opportunity is open to research groups and individuals based at a UK research organisation eligible for NERC funding and in a role that meets the individual eligibility requirements.

The programme focuses on aviation’s non-CO2 impacts. Projects must cover at least one of three themes: increased confidence in contrail and aerosol prediction, future fuels, or underpinning decision-making. Applications should focus on civil aviation (passenger or cargo flight). Research on aviation CO2 emissions should not be undertaken unless appropriate for better understanding a non-CO2 issue. New projects which directly duplicate research funded to date under the programme will not be funded.
