In scope are innovative, early-stage Earth Observation technology development; low TRL early-stage satellite instrumentation or hardware with a clear and defined Earth Observation focus; industrial research, feasibility studies and experimental development. Where Earth Observation benefits are clear and defined, this can include miniaturisation of existing Earth Observation technology, Earth Observation-specific onboard processing, Artificial Intelligence and machine learning, dual-use and Earth Observation-specific enabling technologies. Out of scope are proposals without Earth Observation instrumentation or hardware-specific elements; software-only projects; space weather projects; downstream data processing, validation and storage; proposals solely for procuring equipment, consumables or facilities; and proposals categorised as Fundamental Research.
