DARPA ERIS (Expedited Research Implementation Series)
Backs research teams and institutions for DARPA ERIS in defense innovation, biotechnology, and medical technology.
DARPA's Expedited Research Implementation Series (ERIS), solicitation number DARPA-PS-25-05, is a long-running open call accepting technology submissions continuously through 31 December 2031. Administered in partnership with the Applied Research Institute (ARI), ERIS is positioned as DARPA's most accessible entry point — it accepts 7-minute video pitches in lieu of full technical proposals, with each video describing a single technology solution and multiple solutions requiring separate submissions. Monthly collection windows close at 12:00 PM ET; DARPA distributes assessment results within 30 days of each window's close. Non-selected submissions receive evaluator feedback and may be resubmitted in future monthly cycles.
Eligibility is notably broad relative to standard DARPA BAAs: US-based companies of any size, non-profits, universities, individuals, and foreign universities and research institutions are all explicitly eligible, subject to export control compliance. Award amounts are not set at the program level; DARPA assesses each submission and, if selected, negotiates a follow-on contract or agreement appropriate to the technology's stage. The portal for submission is the DARPAConnect Appian Cloud platform; organisations must register on DARPAConnect before accessing the submission portal.
Each submission must address defence of humans, bioeconomy protection, or health and performance optimisation — the three thematic pillars published for this solicitation. Because ERIS runs through 2031 and topics may evolve over the program's lifetime, applicants should review the most recent monthly guidance on the DARPAConnect platform before submitting. The 30-day decision cycle and iterative feedback loop make ERIS an unusually fast-moving DARPA vehicle for early-stage technology assessment.
Novel technology solutions addressing defense of humans, bioeconomy, and health and performance optimization, submitted as seven-minute videos to monthly DARPA ERIS collection windows through December 2031.
