Breast cancer research keeps stalling at the same point: an idea looks promising in the lab, but nobody has the money to push it toward something a patient could actually use. This award exists for exactly that gap, at its earliest stage.

It funds Breast Cancer Research Program work under Funding Level 1 or Funding Level 2, and every application has to address at least one of the FY26 BCRP's own …

Early-stage breast cancer research under BCRP Funding Level 1 or Level 2, addressing at least one FY26 BCRP overarching challenge and aimed at work that could lead to a future clinical breakthrough. Level 2 includes a Population Science Studies option that can request additional funding and time. No clinical trial is involved at this stage.
