Funds work that strengthens US mathematics as a whole β research infrastructure, training projects, and events with national reach.
This programme funds the health of the mathematical sciences community rather than any particular piece of mathematics. It also complements NSF's mathematics workforce programme, whose aim is more well-prepared people in the United States pursuing careers where mathematical expertise matters.
