The Puerto Rico Industrial Development Company (PRIDCO) Marine Transportation Incentive reimburses a portion of shipping costs for Puerto Rico-based exporters, with the goal of promoting the distribution of goods and services from Puerto Rico to foreign markets and the mainland United States. The incentive covers 20% of transportation costs for each container shipped from Puerto Rico to any port in the world, subject to a cap of $2,000 per shipment. This is a reimbursement mechanism, not a competitive grant — eligible companies receive the reimbursement upon submission of qualifying shipping documentation.

Eligibility is restricted to companies that hold active PRIDCO-promoted status and have annual sales of no more than $10 million. The instrument is targeted at small and mid-sized Puerto Rico exporters who bear disproportionate shipping costs relative to mainland U.S. competitors due to Puerto Rico's island geography and Jones Act freight constraints. The program operates on a rolling, continuous basis with no fixed application window.

PRIDCO is a Puerto Rico government corporation attached to the Department of Economic Development and Commerce (DDEC), and administers this incentive as part of its suite of export-promotion tools for island-based manufacturers and distributors. Applicants must first obtain or maintain PRIDCO-promoted company status before becoming eligible for the reimbursement. Companies shipping containerized goods internationally or to the U.S. mainland are the primary target. Note that as of 2026, this incentive was listed on the legacy pridco.com domain and its status under the current pridco.pr.gov administration should be verified before applying.

Reimbursement of 20% of shipping costs per container (up to $2,000 per shipment) for PRIDCO-promoted Puerto Rico exporters with annual sales under $10 million shipping to any port worldwide.
