Staff Research Program
Funds an Army Research Office scientist's own hands-on research time at your institution, working with a PI your institution names.
Most Army research announcements ask an outside team to propose an idea and wait to see if it gets funded. This one runs the other way: an Army Research Office scientist proposes to bring their own research to your institution.
The programme exists so ARO's in-house scientific staff can keep doing hands-on basic research and stay current in their field, without losing touch with outside institutiβ¦
Hands-on basic research conducted at a collaborating institution's own facilities by an Army Research Office scientist working with an institution-designated principal investigator, in mechanical, mathematical, electronics, computing, physics, chemistry, life, materials, network or environmental sciences, initiated at ARO's own discretion rather than through a submitted proposal for an outside idea.
