Wellcome Prize for Mental Health Science

Awards $1 million to one winning mental-health research team, and $250,000 each to three runners-up, developing new interventions for anxiety, depression or psychosis, worldwide.

Entries are screened first for eligibility, then reviewed by an expert committee of scientists, clinicians, policymakers and innovators, who judge each proposed intervention on its novelty, scientific rigor, potential impact and feasibility. Teams that pass this screening may be asked for further information or invited to an in-depth interview before a shortlist is set. A smaller group of finalist

The prize is for research teams anywhere in the world developing new, effective interventions for anxiety, depression, or psychosis, run jointly by Wellcome and Nature. Eligible teams may be affiliated with a university, research institute, hospital, government body, not-for-profit, or an SME such as a startup or company.
