Multiplex Platforms to Assess Indicators of Micronutrient Status, Inflammation and Infectious Disease
Funds teams building an improved multiplex lab test that measures micronutrient, inflammation and infectious-disease biomarkers together at low cost for population surveillance in low- and middle-income countries.
Proposals are evaluated against detailed analytical targets -- sample volume, precision, sensitivity, accuracy and per-sample cost -- set out separately for the minimum-scope and optimistic-scope alternatives, with funding and project term tied to which alternative is proposed. Collaboration across institutions is encouraged since no single group is expected to hold all the needed expertise in met…
This Grand Challenge wants a better multiplex immunoassay that measures micronutrient status alongside markers of inflammation and infection from a single small blood sample, extending coverage to vitamins B1, B2, B9 and B12 that current tests miss. It targets population-level surveillance in reference laboratories, not point-of-care clinical testing, and applicants can propose either a minimum-scope or an optimistic-scope version of the assay.
